One of the main reasons for testing cannabis is to determine its potency. We measure the amount of cannabinoid content, or strain, in cannabis and cannabis-related products. The strain not only determines potency, it also provides more details on medicinal properties and common physical effects.
Each state has its own testing requirements. Some only require testing of THC and CBD levels while others will ask for CBC and CBG levels. High-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) is commonly used when testing for potency. This particular piece of equipment is crucial in the screening process.
